Fusarium

Fusarium is a common soil fungus that penetrates the plant via the roots. In severe cases the plant will quickly wither. Other symptoms include yellowing of the leaves, root rot, burst stem bases and tuber rot. The symptoms can often only be seen once the plant has been seriously affected. The fusarium spores can spread through water and by other means. Tackling fusarium is difficult. The symptoms can only be seen once the fungus has already penetrated the plant. Preventing the disease is therefore the best method. This means that you should ensure that the water is always free of disease. Crop residues must be cleaned up immediately. If plants are affected, chemical treatment can be carried out using a fungicide. In the case of serious infection, the infected plants must be removed immediately to prevent further infection.
